Mobility & Urban Analytics

Urban mobility leaves a trace in the data. We analyse that trace to understand how people really move through the territory: what journeys they make, when, and with what patterns.

How urban mobility analysis works

Urban mobility analysis with data studies real movement patterns across the territory using observable sources: origin-destination matrices, aggregated telecom data, public transport records, floating and tourist population presence. It measures the 15-minute city, sizes transport demand, understands commercial and tourist flows and detects service gaps.

unica360 carries out this analysis with proprietary microterritorial data for administrations, transport operators and companies with territorial decisions across Europe and LATAM.

Data as a basis

We work with the real traces of mobility that human activity leaves across the territory:

origin-destination matrices from available data

tourist flow analysis for seasonal planning

15-minute city studies to measure real accessibility to services

public transport demand analysis and coverage gaps

Analyses draw on microtarget's mobility indicators: foot traffic, vehicle traffic, floating working population and tourism at street-segment level.

We don't do predictive simulation on this line. For projects that require simulating hypothetical scenarios — what would happen if you pedestrianise a street, build a new facility, or change the layout — we have a dedicated agent-based simulation line.

Applications

Ciudad de 15 minutos

15-minute city

We measure real accessibility to facilities, transport and services for every area of the territory, based on actually installed supply.

Demanda de transporte público

Public transport

We identify served and unserved demand. Coverage gaps and network improvement opportunities.

Flujos turísticos

Tourist flow analysis

We model tourist presence and movement for seasonal planning and flow management.

Nos dedicamos al análisis territorial — unica360

Territorial analysis for retail

Foot and vehicle traffic patterns by street segment for commercial decisions.

Qué ofrece una Smart City — unica360

Smart city

Real mobility indicator dashboard for administrations that want to understand their territory before intervening in it.

Relationship with mobility simulation

This page covers analysis of what's already happening. If your project needs to predict what would happen with an urban intervention (pedestrianisation, superblock, new facility, digital twin), the mobility simulation line builds agent-based models to answer that question.

FAQ

Mobility analysis studies real movement patterns from observable data (origin-destination matrices, aggregated telecom data, transport data). Mobility simulation projects hypothetical future scenarios: what would happen if a street is pedestrianised, a facility opens, or the road network is changed. unica360 works these two lines on separate pages.

We combine unica360's proprietary sources (microterritorial pedestrian and vehicle presence models) with public data and, when the project requires it, aggregated telecom or transport data provided by the client. Typically the client provides some sources and we cross them with ours.

Yes. We've developed projects with MITMA, ISTAC, MITECO, Diputació de Barcelona and Mexican administrations, among others. Our methodology adapts to public procurement requirements and to public-sector delivery timelines and formats across Europe and LATAM.

A table that quantifies how many trips occur between each pair of zones in a territory, broken down by time slot, purpose or mode of transport. It's the basis of any mobility analysis and a common requirement in transport plans and urban mobility plans (PMUS).

By calculating, for each area of the territory, which services and facilities — health, education, retail, transport, green areas — are accessible on foot within 15 minutes based on actually installed supply. The result is a real accessibility map, area by area, identifying service gaps.
